Welcome and Support

Refugee Voices performance at Refugee Week art exhibition launch

Our Project Worker, Julia Leech, works with BIASAN at their weekly support group, providing friendship, activities, meals and advice for refugees and asylum seekers. She played a key role in re-establishing Bradford Refugee Forum and now sits on their executive committee, as well as being part of the steering group for Bradford’s Schools of Sanctuary project. As part of this work, she is also involved in planning Bradford’s programme of events to mark Refugee Week every year, including an annual art exhibition hosting artworks by refugees, schools, community groups and professional artists.

Raising Awareness

Our pioneering Refugee Voices drama project works in schools and communities to raise awareness, educate, and challenge some of the myths around claiming asylum and seeking sanctuary, through telling true stories of refugees who have lived in or passed through Bradford. Alongside this, we also provide myth-busting lessons and information sessions and have hosted events such as the Refugees Welcome community day in September 2015.
